Ben Wagner — founder, designer, network.

Ben has worked in Swiss health insurance since 2005 — the consultancy side and the distribution side. In 2011 he built ExpatCare, one of the first practices focused on expats, and in 2017 he founded Expat Savvy. He saw the work from the inside: the contracts, the underwriting, the commission model, the sales pressure that the brand of Expat Savvy was deliberately built to refuse.

What ExpatCare taught him became the premise of everything after it. Internationals arriving in Switzerland were not badly served because the products were bad, but because nobody was reading those products on their behalf — the advice in the market came attached to a sale. Expat Savvy was built to do the other thing: a practice whose product is a written review rather than a policy. It grew into one that relocation companies and corporate HR teams send their people to, and by its own count it has advised more than 3,500 households since 2017.

Today he runs Loaded AG, the digital agency at loaded.ch and the operator behind four small businesses that share an audience: the English-speaking professional living in Switzerland. Each runs independently; together they form what Ben calls the group.

He is the builder in the literal sense. When his web designer stopped answering, he taught himself to build websites; the first was Insurance-Guide, a guide to Swiss insurance for internationals. That work grew into Loaded — a company of its own since August 2026, with a core team of nine and an office on Talacker in Zürich — and into PrimAI, which HZ Insurance reported in November 2024 as Switzerland’s first AI premium calculator. This site is built the same way: he ships its pages and systems himself.

One rule he keeps in German: Demut ist eine Tugend — humility is a virtue. He prefers working with people as equals.

Day-to-day, the consultation desk runs without him — Ben is most useful where the businesses meet: shaping how the group is positioned, who it partners with, how it shows up. He is not in the client-review rotation; the 45-minute insurance reviews are run by Robert (health) and Nicole (life insurance, 3rd pillar, tax optimization).

Partnerships are the part of Ben’s work that can be counted. Our client system has logged every enquiry since spring 2025; these are its counts to September 2026.

What people come for: of the 334 who named a topic, 275 asked about health insurance, 104 about pillar 3a and tax, 103 about liability, household and legal cover, and 86 about life insurance and pensions. Of the 295 whose language is recorded, 285 chose to be advised in English.

The businesses are connected on purpose. ReloFinder and Offlist bring people moving to Switzerland to relocation agencies and to homes; after the move, many of them come back to Expat Savvy for their insurance; Loaded builds and runs the software for all of it. Every one of them grew out of the one before.

Relocation firms move people for a living. The only reason for them to send those people to us is that we will not embarrass them — which is why Ben treats a referral as the one measure of trust in this business that means anything.
